  • 200g broccoli
  • 200g cauliflower
  • 1 large pinch turmeric
  • 1 large pinch sumac
  • Drizzle of rapeseed oil
  • 1 large handful of mixed nuts
  • Salt and pepper

Roasted cauliflower, broccoli & nuts

I understand that it can be hard to think of interesting vegetables, and it’s easy to get stuck in a rut of having the same vegetables as a side to main meal. You need to give them flavour and interest to help them stand on their own. These roasted cauliflower and broccoli hold their own well next to the spices and toasted nuts, and make a lovely satisfying meal.


Preheat the oven to 200/400/gas 6.

Place the cauliflower in a roasting tray large enough for the vegetables to lie flat. Drizzle the cauliflower with oil and sprinkle with turmeric and sumac. Add the broccoli and season well with salt and pepper.

Roast for 10 minutes. Add the nuts, stir, and roast for a further 15 minutes.

Enjoy on their own as a warm salad or alongside lamb chops or steak.



These are delicious as leftovers the next day. You can bulk them out by adding chunks of feta, or crunchy sugar snap peas.”
